The sad news we had yesterday was that Hannah's fever is getting no better. Hence no FT.It hung like a dark cloud over us as we went to Kintamani .A private SUV came and picked us up punctually at 8.30 am. Besides the hopeless souvenir shops at Celuk and Batuan, we found tempaksiring quite interesting. The indianboyfriend rented a sarong and entered the purification spring to take a dip... Refreshing cold. Then we walked through the valley of bargaining outside the spring. There were rows and rows of shops selling the same thing. The t-shirt started of at 70k rupiah but we got it for 25k but it went down to 20k at the next shop and by the time we reached Kintamani, it was 15k. We ate a spectacular Indonesian buffet lunch with the volcano Batul in view at Kintamani. We ate until we literally could not move. Mybakuteh ate two bowls of the kueh lopez- wonderful sticky rice ( not compacted) with self help grated coconut and gula melaka. Then we visited the Luwak Coffee plantation and they showed us the blooming coffee plants and the
Luwak which looked like a cat. They also showed how they separated the seeds from the pooh. Luwak coffee is the world's most expensive coffee. $5 million rupiahs per kg. To sample one cup,it would cost us 70k rupiahs! The last stop was the tegalallang rice terraces. Imagine having coffee houses on the opposite side for silly tourists to savour the coffee and look at the rice terraces. Back at the hotel, it was back to the daily footie. Mybakuteh could not eat dinner so we went to the minimart and got to cups of instant mee - very tasty as one was served dry one! The nice staff in the shop prepared them for us. We are beginning to like our stay. Unlike Phuket, everything is so convenient and cheap! And no thunderstorms. We will try the sunset dinner routine today!
Pray for God's healing hand on dear Hannah!
